Alice CHENG

I am an adventurer and strong believer in lifelong learning.

So far I have only taken two three-year learning breaks in my life, one was in my infancy and the other one was my daughter’s infancy. Every year, I have set my target to learn at least one new thing or getting a new license. During my spare time, I have lots of hobbies such as hiking, running, camping, snowboarding, SUPs, flight training, film photography, candle wax crafting and baking. As an adventurer, I have done skydiving, aerobatic flight, completed 19 running races within six months and been to Arctic Circle three times to chase the Aurora Borealis. Over the last few years, I have been focusing on completing my private pilot license in Canada and my bread making chef license in Hong Kong.

I lived in Toronto when I was in high school and university. Before joining Discovery College, I was working in Banking & Finance industry for many years. My most rewarding achievement is being a mom of a DC student. She was my first passenger on one of my flight trainings in Vancouver a few years ago.

Karen SHUM

It is wonderful to return to Discovery College since my previous position of a Primary Chinese EA. Apart from years of teaching experience, I have been working in the business sector of retail marketing and administration for many years. I am a Hong Konger who enjoys spending time with family and friends, and exploring all the good food this vibrant city has to offer. My passions include travelling, music, fashion, interior design and flower arranging. This position in Secondary marks a new challenge for me and I look forward to working with the DC community again.

Natalia EDDY

Originally from Indonesia, I used to work for higher learning institutions in Singapore and Germany for eight years and a few years stint in a chemical company before relocating to Hong Kong in late 2018. Working mostly in supporting roles, it is rewarding to see how problems get solved and things run smoothly for students and teachers. When I am not working, you will find me trying my best to stay fit – e.g., badminton, yoga, bootcamp. Else, relaxing with family and friends over nice drinks and foods will always do. As a believer of lifelong learning, I truly enjoy working in an education environment and learning from others. I am excited to be part of the Discovery College family, and I look forward to growing and discovering with DC.

Some of you may know me already as I spent three years as the Development and Communications Manager at Discovery College starting from the College’s second year in Discovery Bay. I then worked with ESF as the Communication’s Manager for the after school sports and language programmes, before returning to DC. I’m originally from Portland, Oregon and lived for many years in Los Angeles. I have a degree in communications from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. I have two fantastic children who attend Discovery College and are so happy to have their embarrassing mom working at the school again. You may hear me cheering extra loudly for them at sporting events or performances. They roll their eyes, but I’m sure deep down they love it!

Lorena HEATH

Having lived in Sydney for 16 years, I returned to Hong Kong in 2006 and joined Discovery College in 2009 as HR & Finance Manager. I like the variety of work in my role and the people I get to meet and work with. It has been exciting and rewarding to see the school grow and what it has done in many ways to contribute to the community. I am delighted to be part of the development of this wonderful school and look forward to the challenges ahead.

Lisa SAKAI

Originally from Tokyo, Japan, I spent over 20 years living in Canada and the US.  I came to Hong Kong in 2011 from the tropical and beautiful city of Honolulu, Hawaii, with my husband, our daughter and our dog. Prior to our relocation to Hong Kong, I worked as an auditor for one of the big 4 accounting firms and a bank in Hawaii.  Although I miss Hawaii, Hong Kong is now our home and we enjoy our lives here very much. I am excited to be part of the DC community both as a parent and as a member of the support staff.

George TIBBETTS

This is my third time working for Discovery College. I grew up and was educated in Hong Kong (ESF South Island School). I have worked in various fields including managing an inline skating rink, roofing and working in a frozen vegetable factory, before realising that IT in education was where I belonged. I also run after-school inline skating with the students.

Cheryl PACIFICO

It’s my pleasure to join the amazing Library team at Discovery College and looking forward to a great new experience. I was born and raised in the Philippines and graduated as BS Pharmacy. Prior joining DC, I have worked in a Pharmaceutical Company as a medical representative for the past 14 years. In my spare time, I love to travel and try out new restaurants.

Colleen SASOY

From an early age, I’ve always been deeply interested in technology. I can still remember having huge interest in computers, how they work, why they work and more importantly what can I do to improve them. This made me decide to be an Apple Certified Mac Technician. In my spare time, I enjoy baking and doing outdoor activities.

Stephen LUI

I grew up and was educated in Hong Kong and UK. At Discovery College I am responsible for the whole school networks, I am Certified MacTechnician, CWNA and having different certificates of CISCO and Microsoft.

Charles CHOW

I used to be a network specialist, a sommelier, a steward, a commis as well as a backpacker traveler. Now, I’m ICT Technician and can easily be reached in the back-office. No matter which role I’m taking, I’ll perform the best that I can. I grew up locally and moved into DB in 1996. Now I’m a 100% local DB-er. As a backpacker, I visited more than 18 countries. As pure as New Zealand, as cool as Finland, as hot as Thailand; no place is as warm as my homeland. I’m glad to work, to learn and to share the joy with students in Discovery College.

Bob PRIEST

A long time resident of Hong Kong, I arrived here in 1977. Having served with the Police for 32 years, I retired from the Force in December 2009, and took up the post of Admissions Manager at Discovery College in January 2010, responsible for the administration of all applications for admission to Discovery College at both primary and secondary levels. I met my wife Lyn in Hong Kong and we have three sons who all attended KJS and KGV before going on to college in the UK. I’m a keen rugby fan, a passion shared by all members of the family, whilst my other main interest is history, particularly that of my native England.
