Singing Music Tutor
Pianist, composer and songwriter
Canadian musician and composer Alysha Gauthier is a Toronto city-girl who says her heart belongs to the rugged Northern Ontario countryside. She has now been living as an expatriate in Hong Kong for five years and enjoys the blend of Hong Kong island’s city life juxtaposed with the rugged nature of the mountains and ocean that surround it. Drawing from the formative influence of classical composers as diverse as the romantic Chopin, the impressionist Debussy, and the avant-garde Satie, she is able to channel her love for composition and improvisation into gracefully elegant compositions and sensitive performances that emotionally engage audiences around the world. Her vocal songs have been compared to Amy Mann, Cranberries and Dido as she writes songs in the acoustic folk and pop genre.
She has been teaching voice, piano and composition for the duration of her time time here and has also been performing locally in Hong Kong, in the United States and in Europe. Her new vocal album is in it’s completion stages and she will be looked to release her album in Asia.
For Alysha, the most rewarding part of teaching is inspiring, energizing, and motivating her students’ quest for knowledge and their passion for music. The release of Alysha’s album, Candlelit Chandeliers, showcases her piano compositions and can be found on iTunes and Spotify. The completion of her Master’s Certificate in Orchestration for Film and TV at Berklee College of Music where she was awarded the Gloria Estefan Celebrity Scholarship has equipped her with creative and relevant ways to teach and to inspire her students.
