A defining feature of the IB’s programmes is the expectation that all IB students engage with their own, and other, communities. Primary Years Programme students build their understanding of community through the Units of Inquiry. In the Middle Years Programme students explore the nature of various communities, their needs and how to take principled action in service of community need. Culminating in the Diploma Programme, students plan their own community engagement initiatives which is a key learning outcome of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programme.
