Student Council

The Student Council's role is to represent all Discovery College students in terms of school improvement and College-wide projects. We get meet regularly to discuss a range of matters that relate to student issues. Over the past year we have hosted a number of visitors to Discovery College as well as representing the College at events, including a trip to HK Disneyland to look at conservation measures and meet with Mr. Gary Locke, the United States Commerce Secretary.

The Student Council consists of 2 students, 1 boy and 1 girl, as a representative for each year level. Below you will find a short bio of each student from the Council:

Nina Rossiter:
Hi, I'm Nina Rossiter from 11.3. I joined Student Council because I felt that I would be able to communicate between my peers and the whole school. Furthermore, I joined because I am always interested into taking on new tasks and making our school environment a better place for all year levels. I feel that being a member of this council will strongly help me become a better leader and a communicator. I am American-Japanese born in Hong Kong and have also lived in Singapore for nearly 5 years. In the future, I would love to travel and help children. My hobbies are traveling, volunteering and being with friends.

Harry Dwyer:
Hi, my name is Harry Dwyer. I am one of the two year 11 Student Council representatives. I was born in Hong Kong, but have lived in the UK for three years. My hobbies include playing rugby and my guitar. This is my second year on the Student Council, and the reason I originally joined the Council was to make the school a better place for the students. I will achieve this is by acting as their voice.

Emi Kingan:
Hi, I am Emi. I am 12 years old, and will be representing Y9 in the Student Council. I am Canadian and British, but I am proud to be born and raised in Hong Kong. I joined the Student Council to try to represent the ideas of all students in my year, but also other students throughout the school. It is my role to communicate your thoughts to other students and staff in hope of putting them into action. In my spare time I like to dance, play golf, play guitar, read and spend time with my family and friends. Have an idea? Email or come see me.

Momoko Ishii:
Being one of the Chairs of the Student Council this year, I am excited to make more decisions for the Discovery College community. I was born and raised in Tokyo, but also lived in Shanghai and Taiwan before coming to Hong Kong in 2006. My interests are the nineteenth-century piano compositions, and the history of the Romanov dynasty. As a new member of the Council, my focus is on the wellbeing of the student body across all year groups. I look forward to work with fellow members of the Council, staff and students, and consider various perspectives for the mutual benefit of everyone in our community.
